Last night I got a lovely surprise. Faith Kramer wrote a review of Feeding Women of the Talmud, Feeding Ourselves and included one of the book’s recipes in her review: The Vegan No-bake Millionaire Recipe. I loved that Faith made the recipe and connected it to the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. Her photo of the recipe is below.
This recipe is extra special to me because my daughter made it for Feeding Women of the Talmud, Feeding Ourselves. The recipe honors the Talmudic character of Bat Abba Surah, a financially independent woman; Her ketubah stipulated she would retain ownership of her own possessions and finances.
We made these vegan no-bake millionaire squares so many times in our house! The inspiration for this recipe came from the Starbucks in Paris near our apartment where they always have millionaires in their pastry case.
This recipe has a vegan almond flour “shortbread” layer, a date and nut butter “caramel” layer, and a chocolate top.
Let me know what you think of this recipe in the comments below.
Shavua Tov and Happy Simchat Torah.
To Your Health and Inspiration,
Kenden
How nice! Congratulations!
