I hope you had a meaningful Rosh Hashanah.
Research reveals that feeling connected to other people encourages positive mental health, physical health and gives our lives more meaning.
That means that sharing is good.
Community Recipes 5783
Today opens a new year of Community recipes on the Jewish Food Hero blog.
Jewish Food Hero is a space for a community of people who want to bond over recipes and Jew-ish stuff.
While I once had a focus on a more vegan lifestyle, I truly believe there is no one right way for everyone to eat, and I am just really excited for you to share your favorite recipes with our community.
Even if just a little part of you is thinking “I’d like to share a recipe” – I want to hear from you!
Community Recipes Memory Lane
This series started in October 2018 with Joan’s Soft, Fluffy and Delicious Vegan Challah Recipe.
Warm Feelings and Connection
In addition to the actual recipes, I started sharing recipes for a few reasons.
I love collecting and organizing recipes because it feels therapeutic for me.
Reading another person’s recipe, seeing their face, and reading about their mindset about food and hospitality gives me (and hopefully you too) a feeling of simple uncomplicated closeness, which most of us need more of in our lives.
First recipe of 5783 is… one to bookmark for Purim!
Freya’s is a PhD student in international human rights law and an avid baker. Her Hamantaschen Recipe uses gluten-free flour to prepare this traditional treat that is loved each Purim. The dough is flavored with fresh orange zest and filled with your choice of jam or marmalade.
The more of us that share recipes, the richer this community will be.
If you have any questions about community recipes, send me an email to hello@jewishfoodhero.com
To our sweet new year 5783,
Kenden
P.S. Please share this post with your favorite Jewish homecook that you wish would share their recipe with us.
