Expressing Gratitude: A Prayer for the IDF Soldiers
FREE printable IDF prayer cards
As Hanukkah approaches on the night of December 7th, I wanted to share a little something meaningful I've created for us—a special IDF prayer card. This year, as we light our Hanukkah candles and celebrate the festival of lights, let's also take a moment to shine a light on the incredible people who protect and defend Israel—the brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
🕎 The Prayer for IDF Soldiers 🕎
Print this prayer card at home and also share this newsletter with your loved ones - so they can print these IDF prayer cards too. Let's collectively send our wishes for strength, courage, and safety to those who serve on the front lines. I am printing these for my Hanukkah party in Paris, along with the Hanukkah blessing cards.
Thinking about IDF, I couldn't help but be reminded of the inspiring story of the Maccabees. The bravery, resilience, and dedication displayed by those ancient warriors resonate with the spirit of our modern-day heroes in the IDF. They, too, stand strong to ensure the safety and security of Israel.
Updated the prayer for the IDF
I updated the existing IDF prayer to address a notable limitation in its traditional form, which exclusively referenced male soldiers. My goal was to ensure inclusivity and recognition of the diverse contributions made by both male and female members of the IDF, since women have also been serving in the IDF since 1948. In addition to this, I took the opportunity to enhance the English translation, aiming for clarity and resonance in conveying the sentiments expressed in the prayer.
Why This Prayer Matters:
Unity in Spirit: Hanukkah is a time of coming together, and our shared prayers amplify the spirit of unity among our community.
Expressing Gratitude: Let's express our deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by the IDF soldiers to safeguard Israel.
How You Can Participate:
Print & Share: Download and print the prayer card to share with friends, family, and fellow community members. The more voices that join, the stronger our collective prayer becomes.
Social Media: Share your moments of printing and sharing the prayer card on social media using the hashtag #LightForIDF. Let's create a virtual menorah of support!
Personal Reflection: Take a moment during your Hanukkah celebrations to reflect on the significance of this prayer in these times.
So, in the midst of our Hanukkah festivities, let's not only celebrate the miracle of the season but also express our gratitude for the ongoing miracles of courage and commitment performed by the men and women of the IDF. May the glow of our candles be a tribute to both ancient and contemporary defenders of Israel.
Wishing you a Hanukkah filled with the warmth of love, the joy of tradition, and the brightness of hope.
Chag Sameach!
