Rosh Hashanah starts sundown on Sunday 25th September. I am planning to host a potluck on Sunday night so I am brainstorming what recipes I will make.
Here are five apple and honey recipes that we can choose from for our Rosh Hashanah table.
Apple Pistachio Cake
This vegan recipe is a passover friendly recipe that calls for matzo meal. The recipe also used grated summer squash, fresh orange juice and no-sugar added apple sauce.
Tora’s Apple Cake Recipe
Catherine shared Tora’s Apple Cake recipe with us. This apple cake recipe has a rich sponge base, lightly spiced with cinnamon and topped with slices of tart cooking apple. You can either make this as a quick throw-it-together dessert, or take your time to carefully arrange the apple slices for a show-stopping appearance. Either way, it really is an easy treat to prepare – the hardest part will be peeling and chopping the apples!Â
Plant-Based Honey Cake Recipe
This sweet and tender plant-based Jewish honey cake from the Jewish Food Hero Kitchen is a delicious end to any dinner and especially good for the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. It is lightly sweetened with honey or natural date syrup and made with real, whole ingredients – a dessert you can definitely feel good about baking and eating.
Eileen’s Spiced Vegan Apple Compote Crumble recipe
Eileen’s Spiced Vegan Apple Compote Crumble recipe is a simple, effective and versatile dish. The sweet, spiced and caramelised filling works great as a syrupy compote. A crunchy topping of ground oats, nuts and spices turns it into a healthy, fruity dessert.
Steamed Stuffed Almond Currant Apples Recipe
These Steamed Stuffed Almond Currant Apples from the Jewish Food Hero Kitchen are a healthy recipe makeover of a grandmother’s favorite. The steamed apples are stuffed with nut butter, spices, and currants. They’re delicious, simple, and sugar-free. These can be served cold or warm. If you want them warm, make sure to keep them in the oven until dessert time.
