I made something that’s turned out to be surprisingly popular: a baseball cap with the Hebrew Chai symbol (חי) — one version has it embroidered on the front, and the other has it printed on the side.

For those who don’t know, Chai means life in Hebrew. It’s a simple, powerful symbol that’s well known in Jewish communities — and interestingly, for people unfamiliar with Hebrew, it just looks like an abstract design. When I moved to France, I noticed that people here wear the Chai symbol on necklaces almost as often as the Star of David. That stuck with me.

I don’t come from a product background. My Etsy shop is a hobby — I make things that feel meaningful to me. I don’t follow trends or do product research. I know I could be more strategic, but for me, this isn’t about making products in the traditional sense — it’s about creativity, connection, and sharing what resonates.

I often make something because an idea pops into my mind and won’t leave me alone — like this cap with the Chai symbol. It felt important, especially right now, when so many people are trying to stay connected to Judaism while also feeling hesitant—or even afraid—to show Jewish symbols in public spaces.

Sometimes, the things I feel most strongly about don’t get much attention... and other times, like with this chai hat, something quietly takes off. It’s always a mystery — and a lovely one.
