A Glimpse into Jewish Food Hero 2024 Newsletter Plans
What to Expect in Each Bite
Welcome to Jewish Food Hero 2024. I am excited to share with you where I see us going in 2024.Â
Jewish Food Hero has evolved over the years, but the core mission remains constant – to connect people through the shared love of recipes and life stories, to strengthen our bond with Judaism while promoting healthy food choices and positive ideas.
Judaism is much more about questions than it is about answers. Our biblical ancestors weren’t angels in a constant state of total clarity or peace of mind, rather they were human beings who merited prophecy and suffered very human pitfalls. They had self-doubts, like Moses when told to confront Pharaoh, and times when they couldn’t see their way out, like Joseph in the dungeon, and situations when they had to balance feelings of jealousy and love, like Rachel and Leah when building their families. Nevertheless, our ancestors kept moving forward, even when they weren't sure.Â
I find this incredibly uplifting, and comforting. Most of us lack prophecy, and if we’re honest, we live our lives putting one foot in front of the next, trying, and trying again, changing course when necessary, almost always never quite sure…And that’s called living.
All of this informs the energy I strive to create here: open, flexible, forgiving, warm, down-to-earth, and menschy. In other words, very, very human.
And while Jewish Food Hero began many years ago as a vegan Jewish blog, today it’s me trying my best to blend a pretty healthy lifestyle (food, exercise, sleep and positive relationships) with Jewish values and Jewish community across the globe, centered around that space where we all spend time creating and caring: the kitchen.
I acknowledge that recipes cannot fix the world, but yet, I firmly believe in the value of food as a means of fostering connection among people, and I look forward to continuing that connection with you this year.Â
Here’s what you can look forward to seeing this year, month after month:Â
Jewish Food Hero Recipes: I will share one of my own recipes that reflect my commitment to eating well, balanced, and healthy.
Community Recipes and Spotlights: I will introduce you to a community member will share what makes them tick in this world, and of course, a favorite recipe
Q&A Interviews: I will interview a variety of people, because I love learning from different people I find inspiring and hearing about what it is they are passionate about. We’ll hear about their lives and get a glimpse of what they do in their kitchens.Â
Jewish Quotes: I’ll showcase quotes that I love with you, for in this busy world, they give me a focal point that I can turn to when I need a reminder of what is important. See a recent blog of quotes I shared on the power of silence.
Judaica + Cookbooks Sneak Peek: When I embark on and finish new projects, whether it's crafting Judaica art or writing a cookbook (or anything else), you'll be the first to know. I'm thrilled to share exclusive previews and insights into my latest endeavors with Jewish Food Hero community. Your feedback and enthusiasm will play a crucial role in shaping these projects, making them a collaborative journey for us all.Â
I hope to publish at least 3 times a month, and if I can every week - but I don’t want to promise something I can’t deliver!
Substack is Jewish Food Hero’s new home and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
For all of 2024, everything I share here will be available to all Jewish Food Hero subscribers - paid and unpaid - because really I am just here to share and create community.Â
But if you’re so moved to support this space for only $5 a month, I’d deeply appreciate it.
All paid subscribers will receive two gifts as a heartfelt personal thank you email: a free digital copy of the Jewish Calendar Holiday Judaica Wall Art (that you can frame and put in your kitchen) and a discount code for Jewish Food Hero’s Etsy shop.
I love being in touch with my readers, so please reach out! If you have an idea for a newsletter topic, want to share a recipe, have a question: write to me!
